BadKarma: NYC’s Fresh Fashion House

By: Harpreet Grewal

“Style: a mode of fashion, as in dress, especially good or approved fashion; elegance; smartness.”

That’s exactly what designer and entrepreneur Kulin Shah represents through his BadKarma Clothing Company. Founded in 2004, Shah had a mission and never looked back. He began his endeavor partly due to the ways in which Indian culture was being poorly portrayed in the media. BadKarma’s culturally specific style presents the South Asian community with unique and fashionable clothes that reveal eastern pride but with a western approach. What’s more, the line accommodates to the specificities of the consumers wearing it. Be it the right cut, curve, or length, time and quality assurance is put into each article of clothing produced.
This New York-based clothing line aims to reflect South Asian culture through innovative fashion designs and style. Their apparel ranges from polo shirts bearing the company’s distinct elephant logo to track jackets and vintage tees for men and tank tops, zip-ups and jackets for women. They also offer accessories such as beanies, hats and canvas yoga bags. With an ever-growing fan base, this collection is continuously expanding in new and appealing ways.

BadKarma has not only caught the attention of the South Asian community but famed celebrities as well. From actress Pooja Kumar to Playmate Heidi Cortez, even comedian Russell Peters and actor Kal Penn can be seen rocking BadKarma apparel.

They may be called BadKarma but their business philosophy is one of social responsibility and awareness. Supporting various organizations such as the American Red Cross and The Wildlife Trust of India, the people behind BadKarma are actively giving back to the community.

Ultimately, what started out as a mere t-shirt line has since evolved into a unique and trendy urban collection with the highest quality fabrics and details. If you are looking for a unique style with an edge, checkout BadKarma.
